Let's make a footed cake plate for MOM!

 Happy 1st Mother's Day!

Wee Bear and I are exuberant, we have two newborn grandchildren! One born October 16, 2011 and the second born April 26, 2012, almost two weeks old. Needless to say, we are thrilled. Seeing our children go through the various stages in their life, and now to be parent's themselves, couldn't make us more proud and happy. It is a special Mother's day for our two new Mom's, Congratulations  and Happy Mother's Day to Laura, Mother to Julia and to Sarah, Mother to Emma.

Cousin's! These two precious beauties will grow up together and share lots of fun memories together. What a miracle.... these little lives.

Julia- 6 months
Emma- her first bath at home. The little  hooded towel, I machine embroidered with her name. She is about 1 week old in this picture.

To Grandparents: Facetime/Scipe is priceless!!Love this era of technology!!

Easy to make - Footed Cake plate for Mom

Make a footed cake plate for Mom......or yourself!!

What you will need:

* Any old plate, any size, any shape. You can buy one at the Thrift store, Target or an old one the Grandma may not use any more. Making it even more precious and re-purposed!
*Any type of candlestick, wine glass, bowl, tea cup anything that has height and a surface that you can apply glue to.
*Glue- get glue that works with ceramic, glass or what ever material your items are made of.

I have a plate and bowl and a glue that works with plastic. I bought all these items on sale at Target.

This is a candlestick that I bought at a Thrift store and a plastic charger plate.

Apply glue to the underside of the bowl.

Center the bowl in the middle of the bottom side of the plate. Allow to dry over night.

Presto! You have a new footed cake plate!!

This one is a bowl and Salad plate. I wanted it to match the dessert/salad plates I have. I bought at Sur la Table. It is just the right size for tiny cupcakes, cookies or chocolates. You can make a tiered plate too, just add another bowl and plate. Example: Start with a dinner size plate and a china teacup/bowl, etc., then add another and a salad plate for the next tier.

  2. You can have it any height and match your china, or use a plate that is meaningful to you. The thrift stores are a great place to find old china, with tiny flowers, that look so pretty with your cookies, cupcakes or brownies! Enjoy!

  3. Thank you for featuring our little monkey! Motherhood is amazing. Happy Mother's Day to you, too! I love your footed cake plate idea. So easy...but I never would have thought of it! Gorgeous blooms on your cactus. I hope I can see a bloom in person when we are visiting.

  4. Yes, Motherhood is awesome! It gives you a whole new perspective on life. You are a long time from it, but, being Grandparents is a whole new and wonderful feeling. Julia and Emma are so adorable and will be such close cousins, it will be fun watching them grow up! When you commented on my vintage footed cake plate, a few blogs ago, the wheels started turning..........how can Laura have a footed plate that she will love? I came up with this idea! So, thank you! There is one bud left on the Coral cactus, hopefully it waits for you!! Thanks for commenting!
