Gender Reveal Party!

                                       Weddle it be?

What is this new explosion of gender reveal parties? They are CRAZY! I remember when we didn't know the sex until the baby came out the chute!! Well, okay I'm dating myself now, but, this is some serious fun!! And don't you ever think I am not going to be in on "Some Serious Fun"!! It is usually given by the expectant parents and instead of the party goers surprising the mommy-to-be with a shower, the baby's parents surprise their guests when they reveal the gender of their sweet child. I mentioned the idea to my daughter in passing, when we first knew she was expecting. A few weeks later, she said let's do it!! I was ecstatic! When the idea of "Gender Reveal" started  it was with a few photos of a small group, cutting a cake etc. Now they have developed into some serious all out events!!! Some do “Cravings” as the theme of the snacks, which is totally hilarious, as all pregnant women would agree. At the end of the party they opened a box of balloons with PINK OR BLUE balloons in it. And some do it really over the top with fireworks! There are themed parties with pink and blue shamrocks around St. Patrick's day or pink and blue costumes around Halloween.

Tink (aka Mommy, aka Holly) wanted to invite family for a casual dinner and a cake cutting to reveal. Laura, Amy and I took it from there, to create a fun filled event that this family will not forget!! Everyone at the party was smiling, happy and excited to see.............Weddle it be? A play on words, as the family name is "Weddle"!! So clever my daughter, Holly, thought of it!

Some parents to be are in on the sex of the baby, others opt to be in the dark, as well as the guests. Holly and Nate chose to not know, which makes it a little more tricky! This involves getting a co-conspirator, and in our case Amazing Cakes, our local baker, who was happy to oblige. Here's how it worked:
The ultra-sound technician slipped Holly and Nate the sealed envelope. Holly in turn handed it off to Laura, who then took it to the baker, who had the cakes ready. She handed Laura the correct cake after opening the envelope. The outside was coated in delicious white butter cream and fondant; the inside is pink or blue cake.

We decided a " Popcorn Bar" would add to the fun..............our guests could flavor plain popcorn or choose the watermelon, blue raspberry or truffle popcorn....... they loved it with their beverage of choice!

Our greeter at the door !

This adds to the fun!!

Onesie cookies by Sweet One, Amy! So adorable! You can make these too at Onesie cookies

Okay! Are you as excited as we are!!  Over 30 close family members and a couple of friends gathered around the table to get a glimpse of the color inside the cake. We all love Holly and Nate so much, and just couldn't wait to see!!

The suspense was overwhelming! And family who couldn't be at the party "Face timed" in for the occasion. Our guests readied their cameras.

And we are having a...............................

When Holly and Nate cut into the cake and realized they would be giving birth to a adorable baby girl, they were over joyed! Beaming with joy and they have not quit smiling two days later.

And the two Grandma's are over the top!! We have already started our shopping!

The moment you learn the sex of your baby is magical, and some parents are choosing to celebrate it with friends and family
. This was so much fun!! Everyone is still talking about it and we have received multiple text messages and e-mails on how creative the party was. I must tell you everyone is still smiling...................

Cheers!
JJ

PS- We are busy with paint for the nursery and registry!! I am thrilled Holly has decided to have me sew all the bedding and curtains! I will be sharing with you here on the blog!! Yipppppeee! It's a girl! I can't wait for the braiding of hair to  begin!

Grandma and Grandpa have realized we need a play room with Grandchildren coming fast and furious..............so this is the beginning of our Kiddie Kamp with a lot more to come!
